I Don’t Need the Church

If I did not have the church…
I would not have a family who taught me the meaning of love.
I would not have the amazing bond I have with childhood friends.
I would not have known the joy of Vacation Bible School.
I would not know what it is like to go to a summer camp.
I would not have attended a Christian university.
I would not have majored in Biblical Studies.
I would not be married to a wonderful Christian woman.
I would not know the selfless individuals I know today.
I would not be a minister.
I would not be a chaplain.
I would not know Jesus.
I would not be saved.

I don’t need the church. I desperately need the church.

Looking back, it is quite amazing how much my church family has had a vital, positive impact on my life. I wonder where I would be if I didn’t have the encouragement of my brothers and sisters.

Take a moment and think, “Where would I be if I did not have the church?”

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
