It’s that time of year again, when some 68 teams are put into a bracket and only one team comes out on top. Throughout the next couple of weeks, a phrase will be heard and written all across sports media platforms. That phrase is, “A Cinderella Story.” The question that basketball fans and sports enthusiasts will be asking is, “Will there be a Cinderella story in this years bracket?”
We all know the tale of Cinderella. A life of uncertainty and oppression from others with such a triumphant ending to her story. That is what many people will be watching for and maybe hoping for during this basketball tournament. A team, from nowhere, others saying they won’t make it far, overcoming the odds set before them, and their story ends triumphantly.
In this world, we all are Cinderella. Odds are against us, we shouldn’t have made it this far, yet our story ends triumphantly. We are weak. We are sinners. Yet, the Prince of Peace has chosen each of us, and calls us to Him.
You may be hurting but remember, God loves you.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
