Praying for College Students

I am about to start my 5th fall semester as a campus minister. It’s a little surreal on how this adventure began, thinking I would be in Tuscaloosa working with college students was not on the ministry job list. Football season in Tuscaloosa, tailgating, intramural sports, hanging out in the student center? Sign me up!

But let’s be real for just a moment. All of that sounds so great, but campus ministry isn’t just about playing games, hanging out late at night, eating BBQ, and playing ping pong. Here are some areas that I’ve seen first hand that college students have dealt with
(this is in no particular order):

  • Alcohol
  • Apathy
  • Racism
  • Sexual Temptations
  • Apostasy
  • Drama
  • Gossip
  • Pornography

Remember, college students deal with so much during their time away from parents and in a new environment. Their spiritual walk can and will be tested day in and day out.
Join me in praying for college students. Praying that they won’t be marveled by the world, but that God would be marveled by their faith.

When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.”

Matthew 8:10

Blessings,

William S.
