The Main Thing, The Main Thing

Have you ever just lost focus? You are thinking of a particular thing and then you lose focus and all of a sudden your thoughts are on rabbit trails? Or maybe your thoughts are on a certain subject and they turn dramatic, over thinking something? I’m sure you have, at least I know I do. We lose focus on the important thing in life. We do it all the time, but like I said, I know I do, you may have it figured out.

We lose focus in sports.
We lose focus in relationships.
We lose focus in friendships.
We lose focus in school.
We lose focus in our family.
We lose focus in our job.
We lose focus in our hobbies.
We lose focus in our wants.
We lose focus in church.

The list may go on and on. You see, we lose focus because we don’t keep the main thing, the main thing. Take a look at this passage:

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

Jesus says seek first. This literally means to seek in order to find, to find out by thinking, meditating, reasoning, to inquire into. So, we need to think on, meditate, seek after first and foremost God’s kingdom and His righteousness. When we do this, everything in our daily life, whether it be food, clothes, problems with relationships, family, etc., everything will be okay. So let’s encourage one another. All we have to do is just keep the main thing the main thing. And the main thing is God.
