Chaplain Training

CHBOLC. It means Chaplain Basic Officer Leadership Course and that is what I am currently doing right now. The school is held in Fort Jackson, S.C. and it is about 13 weeks long. Through this training, I and my fellow Chaplains will receive the training and guidance that will enable us to be the ministers and officers we need to be to soldiers.

I honestly cannot believe that I am in this position. Looking back, I never thought I would be here, serving in the military, but I am and it’s been a great experience. I want to share with you the reason I am here. When I was a senior in college, pursuing my undergraduate degree, it was difficult for me to find a ministry position at a church. That situation is not uncommon for those who are single, like I was at the time. I prayed for a long time and talked to many of my friends and family members about what step I should take. God opened up a door for me. I wanted to use my ministerial degree to serve Him and others, that’s why I got the degree after all, and the opportunity presented itself: Military Chaplaincy.

I thought, both of my grandparents were in the military and this is what I need to do.
God answered my prayer and called me to minister to soldiers.
God works in mysterious ways.
God has a way for you.
God has a plan set in motion.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10
